Approximately 50% of all residential fires occur in the kitchen, often caused by food left unattended on the stove. The stove guard was developed to protect against stove fires. Individuals who have been assigned a care level can now apply to their care insurance fund for a stove guard.
Conventional smoke detectors are not recommended in the kitchen due to the increased risk of false alarms caused by cooking fumes. In the event of a kitchen fire, valuable time is lost before the smoke reaches a smoke detector in another room.
The SGK5010 INDEXA stove guard closes this safety gap and protects against stove fires. The innovative device consists of a compact sensor unit and a control unit. The infrared and thermal sensor integrated in the sensor unit monitors an electric hob and evaluates the respective cooking situation using the integrated software. If a pot or pan overheats, the sensor unit warns with an 80 dB alarm tone. In addition, a radio signal is sent to the control unit, which automatically interrupts the power supply to the hob. This prevents fires from starting and residents from being harmed by toxic fumes.
The stove guard complies with EU standard EN50615:2015 Category B, which deals with devices for preventing kitchen fires. The device can be installed quickly and easily by a qualified electrician and is compatible with all types of electric hobs. Retrofitting is also possible. The sensor unit can be attached to the extractor hood or ceiling using a self-adhesive magnetic plate. Wall mounting is also possible with an additional bracket. The control unit is installed behind the stove between the junction box and the hob.
Whether in private homes, student residences or retirement homes, the stove guard ensures safety in every situation. People in need of care from care level 1 onwards can now apply to their care insurance fund for the stove guard as a care aid (care aid no.: 52.40.03.3001). A recommendation from a nursing professional is advantageous. Information on how to apply can be obtained from the care insurance funds.
